Historic Context, Modern Lighting

Sustainability and preservation of the listed building were two focal points on this job, ensuring that the former monastery’s walls remained intact, while still surpassing current energy efficiency standards for new constructions. To effectively meet functional and building conservation needs, the design included an innovative lighting plan. With the implementation of new office concepts, workplace availability increased by approximately 30%.

Deerns Solutions

Incorporating modern lighting into the heritage-listed structure at Venray posed an exciting challenge for Deerns. This was successfully achieved through a combination of newly designed luminaires conceived to complement the heritage building; refurbishment of existing heritage chandeliers; and meticulously integrated, statutory electrical systems. The monastery’s historic chapel was converted into a main hall conceived to host a variety of events. This transformation was achieved through a meticulously crafted lighting plan, devised to optimise the entire space, providing access to color LED lighting and creating the requisite lighting scenes.
