A Lounge With a View

To accommodate potential growth, the lounge design concept allows for almost double the previous capacity. The two-storey KLM Dutch House stands over the entrance to the new lounge, which boasts runway views. Access is via two escalators that pass glass display cabinets containing a collection of more than 5,000 renowned KLM Delft blue houses.

Deerns Solutions

Deerns was commissioned to combine creative conceptual designs with installations required for functional yet ambient lighting. Collaborating closely with the architect, the firm produced a well-thought-out, seamlessly integrated design for functional lighting with decorative fittings. Low-level lighting was, where needed, integrated into architectural details for concealment. A variety of accents and features imbue distinctive parts of the lounge with their own identity and functional light levels, generating a sense of calm.
