Innovating for Precision Care

Conceived to humanise hospital spaces, the cutting-edge facility incorporates sustainable technologies and solutions that prioritise energy and environmental sustainability. The newly-constructed pavilion accommodates the Surgical and Emergency Centre, a ten-level facility that operates wholly independently from the other hospital complex buildings. The project’s complexity was heightened by the client’s request for a high-intensity care emergency pavilion, posing challenges from both technological and healthcare perspectives.

Deerns Solutions

The task of designing a substantial volume on an existing site laden with numerous constraints and restrictions required Deerns to undertake a comprehensive analysis of different interventions. During the design phase, Deerns paid meticulous attention to energy consumption containment; the predominant focus was on optimising the performance of the envelope to minimise the building’s energy requirements. As a result, not only do the façades define the project architecturally, they also do so technologically.
