Advancing Innovation: Sustainable and High-Tech Development

High Tech Campus Eindhoven, the smartest km2 in Europe, is an ecosystem of 300 high tech companies where more than 12,500 innovators, researchers and engineers develop future technologies and business.

For this project, new buildings were developed, and existing buildings were renovated to comply with Philips’ rigorous standards. As well as offices that are BREEAM and WELL enabled, Deerns developed cleanrooms including associated process critical systems, software, laboratories, workrooms and parking garages.

An underground thermal energy storage system was also developed, one of the largest energy storage projects in the Netherlands. As this storage lies in a catchment area, a special monitoring programme was required to obtain a permit and Brabant Water Company is involved in the management of the wells.

Deerns Solutions

Deerns was involved from the design to the supervision of the mechanical, electro-technical and transport installations. Furthermore, a security plan was developed for the entire High-Tech Campus which was supervised by Deerns during construction. Deerns was also responsible for modelling the central thermal energy storage system, as well as design, tendering and supervision of civil, mechanical and electro-technical engineering installations.
