Enhancing Cutting-Edge R&D with Innovative Facility Solutions

The Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC) is a leading international research and development organisation in nanoelectronics and digital technologies, bringing together over 4,000 researchers from nearly 100 countries. With facilities in Leuven and across Flemish universities, as well as international hubs in the Netherlands, Taiwan and the USA, IMEC is at the forefront of next-generation innovation.

Deerns Solutions

Deerns has played a key role in the development and expansion of IMEC’s infrastructure. At EnergyVille II in Waterschei, Deerns provided multidisciplinary engineering services for a new R&D facility that includes cleanrooms, laboratories, a warehouse, offices and utility areas. These services covered electrical and mechanical engineering, building physics consulting, project management and coordination between all parties.

Since 2012, Deerns has been involved in upgrading and extending IMEC’s cleanroom facilities in Leuven, including peer-reviewing the design of a new 300/450 mm R&D facility – handling critical systems such as exhaust, process chilled water systems (PCW), clean dry air (CDA), high purity gas, chemical systems, ultrapure water (UPW), and wastewater treatment (WWT)
