Deerns celebrates as the Skylight Building is recognised as Best New Built Office Building 2023 at the Spanish Association of Offices (AEO) awards in Madrid.
Madrid, 21 November 2024. Deerns, played a key role in the design and delivery of the landmark building in Madrid’s thriving Nuevo Norte district. The Skylight Building’s seven column-free floors are flooded with natural light, boast panoramic views and flexible configuration. Spacious outdoor terraces, communal garden and Skylight Plaza all contribute to a modern workspace that seamlessly blends work and leisure space delivering an energising and highly productive atmosphere.

Blending energy efficiency with cutting-edge design
Deerns was responsible for the building’s engineering systems. Designing the building to achieve both LEED and WELL Platinum certification, Deerns brought international expertise to the project, succeeding in delivering remarkable energy efficiency. The building is powered by 100% renewable energy, and embodied carbon was reduced by 6,000 tonnes. Alongside this, air quality, natural light, conservation of water and the promotion of eco-friendly transport were all integral factors in the design process.
Additionally, Deerns has helped the building achieve a WiredScore Platinum certification ensuring it is fully equipped to leverage state-of-the-art digital technology and meet future technological demands.
The AEO awards ceremony was held in the Jean Nouvel Auditorium of the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid and attended by leaders in the real estate sector.
