Deerns is further developing its footprint in Asia with the signing of an MOU with Spectrum PharmaTECH Consultants to be a majority shareholder in Proworks Engineering and Technical Services. This will enable Deerns to offer its formidable range of highly specialised, sustainable and smart services to the health care, data centres and electronics markets in the region.
The Hague, 13 September 2023. As the leading engineering consultancy firm in The Netherlands in healthcare services, Deerns joined the Dutch Trade Mission Delegation to India to establish new client relationships in the local and regional health care and life sciences markets.
During the trade mission reception in Bangalore in the presence of Dutch Prime Minister Rutte, Deerns signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Spectrum PharmaTECH Consultants (Spectrum). The MOU formalises the ongoing strategic partnership by establishing a joint venture (JV) with Deerns as majority shareholder and Spectrum holding the remaining shares in Proworks Engineering and Technical Services. Deerns has recently commenced a series of large-scale health care projects in Indonesia, Southeast Asia. This move enables the company to further develop its footprint in Health Care, Data Centre and Electronics footprint in Asia.
Deerns is a leader in providing design and smart health care solutions and is ideally placed to support accelerating the development of high-end hospitals and medical facilities in India. Patient-oriented care is at the heart of digital healthcare, which is rapidly on the uptake in India after the Covid-19 pandemic, and which requires complex smart systems that offer a seamless patient-carer experience.
Deerns and Spectrum will also pursue the local and regional data centre and electronics markets. India is experiencing an investment boom in its data centre market and is expected to double its data centre capacity by 2030. India is also expecting major investments in the local micro-electronics market in the coming years, fuelled by the ambition of the development of local semiconductor manufacturing capacity and the corresponding supply chains and ecosystems.
Tjerk van der Meer, CEO Deerns, says, “India is recognised for being technology-driven, which we want to embrace with our local partner Spectrum, and together contribute to the development of state-of-the-art designs for hospitals and high-tech facilities like wafer fabs and data centres for people in the region to continue to prosper.”
R S Swaminathan, Managing Director, Spectrum PharmaTECH Consultants, adds, “We are confident that the partnership between Deerns and Spectrum will continue to grow and that, together, we will create a strong portfolio of projects in smart engineering and services in India.”
