Digital Twin Operating Theatre; reducing surgical infections

Surgical site infections rank third among hospital-type infections in cost and frequency and are a leading cause of death among surgery patients. Enhancing air quality by reducing particles that carry airborne bacteria has been shown to reduce the risk of surgical site infections.

Deerns is currently developing a system to address this challenge. The Digital Twin Operating Theatre system generates a twin virtual model of the physical operating theatre and combines computational fluid dynamics, smart sensors and big data to provide a realistic and real time risk assessment of an operating theatre’s air quality and possible sources of airborne particle emissions.

You’re invited to a presentation on this concept by Eduard Boonstra, Sector Director: Health Care, Deerns at ASCCA’s CLEANTECH 2022 congress on 19 October in Milan.
