The Hague, 12 March 2026 — Deerns, a global expert in high-tech facility design has contributed to a major new industry guide focusing on science parks and innovation campuses in the Netherlands.
As a market leading expert in cleanroom and laboratory design, Deerns has contributed to the Innovation Area Development Partnership (IADP) publication. Co-authored by Eric Stuiver, Jeroen Rijs and Naomi Duivesteijn, the chapter focuses on engineering future-ready life sciences ecosystems.
Eric Stuiver, Sector Director Electronics at Deerns said: “Science parks play a very significant role in driving innovation in the Netherlands. For these self-contained ecosystems to achieve their full potential and attract both investment and talent takes an integrated design that combines input from developers, architects, end-users and engineers.”
“Our chapter sets out the three interconnected pillars that are central to our approach: whether to renovate or build, how to lay the foundations for future investment, and how to integrate smart technology. We illustrate these with real world examples drawn from our experience in designing some of the world’s leading campus developments.”
Alongside Deerns’ contribution the book explores other key topics, including the history of establishing science parks in the Netherlands, the optimal mix of companies within a science park, and methods for profiling organised innovation spaces. The publication also discusses current trends shaping the landscape of innovation spaces.
The book has been published to mark the 10th anniversary of IADP, a knowledge sharing platform that brings together advisors, investors, designers, and managers of innovation spaces from across the Netherlands.
Eric continues: “We are honoured to contribute to the IADP’s book, the partnership has been a major driver of collaboration within the industry, and we look forward to continuing our involvement and sharing our experiences of this exciting and important sector.”
Organised Innovation Spaces will be published in a limited release to IADP partners only.
