In 2011 the Department of Civil Aviation announced the expansion of Kuwait international Airport Kuwait International Airport is planned to significantly increase capacity and establish a new regional air hub in the Gulf.
These strategic aims will be matched by a state-of-the-art terminal building. The new terminal 2 is to be a master piece, designed by Lord Norman Foster. Deerns has the responsibility for the airport systems. The terminal’s design is rooted in a sense of place, responsive to the climate of one of the hottest inhabited environments on earth and inspired by local forms and materials. Deerns has introduced leading edge technologies into the design for ICT and for Apron Services. On opening Kuwait Terminal 2 will be the benchmark for terminals in the region.
