Deerns was involved with the development of the Airport on the Caribbean paradise island of Tortola, which is part of the British Virgin Islands. Surrounded by blue ocean lies the small island containing the airport.
Deerns designed the airside systems and control tower. In addition to the design Deerns was also stationed on the island for construction supervision. The British Virgin Islands are known for extraordinary beautiful surrounding and is as such a prime tourist destination. With the development of the airport BVI has increased its capacity to accommodate tourists, thereby stimulating the local economy.
