Anticipating the large number of tourists coming to the 2010 world soccer championship the Government planned a new development of their international airport. Botswana focused on tourists who combined their visit to the championship with a safari trip to the Okavango delta and Kalahari Desert.
Deerns was pleased by assisting this nation in the development of their capital airport. Furthermore Gaborone is the main port for distribution of treasures of the earth, mainly diamonds. A complete new terminal building has been designed. This building includes all facilities for the airport passenger processes as well as the facilities for the airport staff. The terminal building and systems are designed in in accordance with international regulations. Full segregation between arriving and departing passengers has been ensured including a 100% screening of passengers, staff and baggage.
