From planning to execution, how can we create sustainable hospitals ready for net-zero? Join Eduard Boonstra, Sector Director Healthcare, to discuss this complex question at Hospital Tech 2024 in Mumbai.
Green hospitals create an environment where patients can heal, and staff can perform to their best. They can also help drive progress towards net-zero.
The design of a green hospital – or the adoption of green hospital principles for an extension or renovation project – requires a holistic approach that blends the aesthetic with the technical. The result is an environment that supports post-operative recovery, shortens hospital stays and minimises stress for patients, their loved ones, and hospital staff.
Many of the factors that help create this healing environment are also choices that contribute to a hospital’s sustainability goals and ambitions. These include optimised lighting, air quality and indoor gardens that improve temperature control as well as providing more relaxing surroundings.
Eduard elaborates, “Hospitals can have a significant impact on both patient outcome and their own operational efficiency by embracing the green hospital approach. Whether a hospital project is a new build, extension or renovation there are opportunities to integrate green hospital design principles and deliver a more sustainable, and pleasant, healing environment. I’m looking forward to sharing some insights on how to get started during the panel discussion.”
