The well-known Amsterdam Twin towers will be given a totally new look and the area near the Zuid station and the WTC will be given a new impulse under the name 2Amsterdam. The two towers will be renovated into a multi-tenant office building and a hotel with the ambition to achieve BREEAM Excellent. Deerns is responsible for the MEP systems design work, the construction management and BREEAM commissioning and supervision.
The two towers will be transformed into an office tower and a hotel tower. The existing office tower will be made broader and will cover some 20,000 m2. The other tower will receive three extra floors and will be transformed into a four-star hotel with around 330 rooms, a sky bar and top restaurant. The towers will have an underground car park with 380 parking spaces. The surrounding outside space will form a semi-public garden for the busy Zuidas environment.
Sustainability during construction
The hotel will be realised with the ambition to achieve BREEAM Excellent. During construction, attention will be paid to minimising the environmental impact. The timber used on the construction site comes from legal sources and is provided with a sustainability label. All other material will be sourced responsibly. By using recyclable material as much as possible, waste on the construction site will be limited. In addition, waste will be separated as much as possible.
The WTC Amsterdam is immediately next to 2Amsterdam. This complex will be expanded in the coming years with a 10th tower, which will stand 80 metres tall and will give the complex almost 25% more office space. Deerns is responsible for the MEP systems concept and its implementation.
