Special details
The premises are divided in two separate buildings, an L-shaped five
story building and a U-shaped four story building, connected by an
atrium serving several footbridges.
All 115 different laboratories were designed by means of the well
known Deerns method "beamer sessions", in which a close cooperation is
developed between the user of the room, the project management, the
architectural designer as well as Deerns. In combined meetings each
room got its shape and required utilities from where the designers
received the necessary information to start their job.
Finally, after moving into the building, Philips staff received
additional support from Deerns for solving the necessary hook-up
difficulties as well as modifications due to the on-going activity
alterations during the building process until the management of Philips
was fit to take over their responsibilities.
