Rijswijk, the Netherlands – The Netherlands-based Deerns Groep BV has acquired 100% of the shares of Hilson Moran Italia SpA in Milan from Altran Technologies SA. The engineering consultancy will continue activities at its current location under the name of ‘Deerns Italia, SpA’ , effective immediately, with its entire existing management and staff of 37.
Deerns is an international consultancy engineering Firm with a 2011 revenue of e 52 mln and pre-tax profit of e 6.2 mln. The privately held firm specialises in building services consultancy and engineering and sustainable building design. Hilson Moran Italia is active in the same area. After its inception in 1980 as ‘Milanoprogetti SpA’, it was acquired in 2007 by the British engineering group Hilson Moran, a subsidiary of Altran Technologies SA. The recent spin-off by Altran of this company did not include its Italian arm. Hilson Moran Italia posted a revenue of e 3.5 mln and an adjusted profit before taxes of e 0.2 mln in 2011, predominantly serving clients in the private sector in Northern Italy.
With the acquisition of this high-calibre Italian engineering consultancy Deerns aims at further strengthening its position in the larger EU markets where it now has offices in six countries. It follows the recent opening of offices in Paris (2010) and London (2011), whilst the Group’s strongest presence is in The Netherlands and in Germany.
Deerns expects the performance of its new Italian arm to improve in the course of this year due to internal improvement measures and the integration into its successful international network. Apart from its European activities, Deerns has offices in Dubai (UAE) and in Denver (USA). Its 500 professional staff serve clients worldwide in the airports, health care, data centres, clean technology, commercial and office real estate, and sustainable design markets.
