Innovative Concepts

Deerns has vast experience in developing and applying innovative systems and technologies in its designs.
Concepts and technologies developed for these projects are, when generally considered as proven technology, also implemented in data center projects (e.g. the utilization of cold storage in aquifers).

Examples of sustainable projects and concepts:
  • Cold and heat storage in aquifers
  • Hot-cold surface storage
  • Cooling and heating with seawater or rivers
  • “Green Cooling for Data Centers” (patent pending Deerns)
New and innovative concepts have also been developed purely for data centers, such as increasing free cooling capacity from 30% to more than 95% by using innovative cooling concepts. Thereby, the international call for Green Data Centers has been fulfilled. With this patented technology, it is possible, for a large part of the world, to design a data center with no chillers, that complies with all of the common requirements in the data center market (.e.g. TIA-942, ASHRAE, etc.).

With these concepts and technologies, Deerns has developed some of the world’s most energy efficient data centers. Currently, projects are under development in Germany, Russia, Spain and the Netherlands that will have an annual average PUE of 1.15 and a peak PUE of 1.30, or below.
